Chandler Opti took a ****!!!
yea was on the expressway headed to the mall and my "new" opti took a big dookie splash on me.was cruising in 6th gear bout 1700 rpm chech engine light pops on.just so happen i still had my scanner plugged in,so i checked the code while still cruising.bank 2 sensor 1 voltage high was the code then about 30 seconds later car just died so i pulled it on over.30 minutes later my bud shows up with starting fluid and the icm and coil of his 96.sprayed the starting fluid...no go.swapped to a known working icm and coil no go. has a good ignition fuse and my vats has been tuned out.so all it leaves is this weak azz opti!!! doesnt even have 400 miles on it!!! so as of now $50 bucks later its at home but too dam cold to **** with it.....ranting

its just the luck of the draw....Some last forever some die young.....
Some guys go through the trouble of putting loctite on the screws and sealing it up and sometimes they still die...
others put them on without doing anything and the spin to the moon....
moral of the story is OPTIS SUCK!!!

Only code was the pass. side O2? What about the pigtail backing off the opti? You probably wouldn't see that on the side of the road unless you happened to pull up on it to find it had popped out. Just saying you got a couple more troubleshooting steps before concluding it's the opti. Like MattSapp95_T/A asked, any prepping you did to it before the install?

You don't know the opti is dead for sure. You are just speculating. And trashing a legitimate business's name is shitty. If its under warranty it will get replaced. What the **** more do you want? I vote

So you get a code saying your passenger side O2 voltage is high (meaning its bad), and then the car dies and then you cant get it started. So how is that the opti? Both my O2s went bad on my old motor simultaneously and I remember it not starting and when it did it felt horrible. So replace the O2 first before you point fingers

For the price these opti's fetch and the luck of the draw being the only thing that seems play into if they work or not... I say he has every right to bitch about the opti once he finds out for sure. You can exclude the company name but then what? Everyone will start thinking this company has a magical opti when they are all the same. Who cares if it's under warrenty look at what you have to go through to change it. It cost more than the price of the opti when they fail like that. Anyone who says it's not a big deal to have to keep changing them like that must like banging thier head against a wall. Personally I don't think any of them are worth what you pay for them. It's just too bad the LS conversion isn't cheaper. If it was a 500 to 800 dollar swap you would never have these threads because people would be just swapping them out insted of changing the opti.

FWIW, I installed a CSM opti not too long ago -- and about 3 weeks ago noticed an issue with it when I was home. I am now home for spring break and pulled the cap off the opti earlier today and found one of the screws for the rotor sitting in the bottom of the opti. I'm not saying this is Chandler's fault... but the car had been driven MAYBE 200 miles since the new opti was installed. Needless to say this time around I put some loc-tite on the rotor screws and RTV around the cap. We'll see how long it holds up.

That's the thing about engine specific sections. We can gripe here where others will notice. How many times have I visited the sponsor feedback section since I've been on this site? Like 3.
