Default Deleting a/c box but keeping heat...how to?

Well, after reinstalling my entire HVAC setup, i decided I only need heat/defrost. How do I get a clean firewall with just keeping the heat and defrost. Do I need to pull my dash back apart? I still have my block off plate templete which I know I need to drill 2 holes for the heater hoses.

All my Ac stuff from the box forward is gone. Just like to get rid of the box in the engine bay.

I didn't realize you could delete the box and still keep heat. Interested in knowing how as well

I did it. It sucks. That being said, it was totally worth the trouble for the added space in the engine bay. Oddly enough, my heater now works better than it ever did before. I didn't take any pictures while I was doing it because I was too busy cussing. Do a search on this subject with user name the_merv, I used some of his pics for reference, and I did mine basicly the same way that he did.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...x-removal.html

I used this page and the links inside to do mine. I took it out in pieces on theengine side and All I used was a flathead screwdriver, a pair of vice grips, a small coping saw, and a hammer. The hardest part was deciding where to make the first hole, lol. I am making my block off plate now with a sheet of 1/8" aluminum. Oh, and my engine is out also.

Just cut off the front of the box flush with the firewall. I just used a hammer and broke off most of it. I finished trimming off the smaller pieces with a pair of pliers. Cut holes for the heater hoses and that vaccum line. You will need to also cut out the section in the middle and fill it with something. Install your delete plate.

I really want to get rid of that box now, I was just out looking at it and didnt realize just how big the thing is, that takes up a lot of space underhood. There is no way in hell that thing is coming out with the motor in though, lol. At least I'm not going to attempt it until the motor is out again. I'm going to fab up a plate like shown above, that looks really clean.

thanks and if you could send me some details on how you fabed up that buldge that would be sweet. A template should be easy but how far does it stick out, how lon, how wide ect. is really what im interested in.
