need info on data logging my 95 z28
I am having a big problem with the transmission shifting from second into third and then immediately shifting into 4th without pulling through third. this was happening before i did the gears swap.
and now after the gears im not sure its pulling all the way through 1st at WOT. it feels like its getting into second a little early.
now i did get a tune from madtuner when i did the upgraded trans and stall converter, long tubes, full exhaust. but i didn't notice any real difference.
So now im not sure how to fix these problems but a couple people keep telling me i need to datalog it and have my tuner look through it and find the problems.
But i dont know what i will need to datalog my car. anyone know?
sorry for the long read. any help will be greatly appreciated.
The PCM uses mph and rpm to determine when it shifts. Since your mph is off, your PCM is off.
You don't need to datalog. You need a new tune. Buy a cable for tuning and download winflash. Pull your bin file from it and email it to someone who can plug in your new values and email it back to you.
Now the problem with 1st just started after the gears so im pretty sure that one will be fixed with the tune.
and no im not sure that the original tune i got from madtuner was right. and im actually pretty sure that it wasn't right because thats when i started having the shifting problems. But i wasn't sure because i was having transmission problems at the same time.

Now its making more sence to me, you got a retune and you started having shifting problems. You then changed the gears and now are having issues in 1st and 3rd. Im sure the pcm has no idea whats going on now since the programming is so far off now with all the changes.
Lets go to the problem now datamaster, hook the ALDL cable to Lap and car.
Open datamaster program, Turn the key forward right before it turns over.
Click the Record ALDL from the file menu, this will prompt a message to pop up saying you have so many records left, click OK. A 2nd pop up window will be under the first message. On the 2nd pop up will have a com selction you need to pick witch COM your USB cable is plugged into. After that there is a white strip in the middle of the pop up that you can type into, this is where you MUST name a file before it will let you start logging anything. Also make sure you have the correct car and tranny picked as well. Then you should be ready to go.
I did everything 96transamboosted said and i thought it was going to work but after i clicked start it said NO PCM SYNC. RECYCLING then it just kept counting but didn't do anything.
any ideas?
