Default oil drip

Need some ideas folks. 145k stock lt1. Changed to full synthetic at last change. Lost around a quart since change. Only drips while running and actually had a sling of oil from the belt after idling. Gasket or sending unit? Go.

Well since the sending unit is on the back of the motor is probably a gasket

My guess = Neither:

Grooved balancer hub. You can buy stainless sleeves to fix this.

lol LT1 timing covers have more holes in them than swiss cheese. I am with the above parties though. look to the hub first, water pump, or if your a 95 to 97 there is always that big hole for the opti but it has 2 different seals to try and keep it in. Then on the 96 97 there is the good old CPS in the bottom and it has an O ring on it. Best bet is to Clean VERY carefully around the timming cover making sure not to get water on the opti JUST in case, and then start it up for a few and then look for any fresh oil.

Just a warning, in my experiences over the years, fixing one oil leak seems to make 2 others spring up...then after you fix those...engine goes, chevys just like to leak a bit

Was it mobile 1? Mobile 1 has a tendency to find every crack and hole and leak out!

It was indeed mobil1. I got it on a lift last night and its either the crank hub or the opti. Left it at the shop being he is the one building my exhaust and im installing my headers over the next couple weeks. So I will address it when the exhaust is off and the belt being it needs replacing. Joy joy the spending of money.
