Question EFI Users...question for ya.

EFI 24x owners.......

Do any of you know whether stock LS spark plug wires will be long enough to use? I'm almost sure everyone is using 90* boot ends too, right? Not trying to buy all the necessary tools to make a custom set just need them to be long enough to begin w/. I'll be using Taylor 10.4mm as that's all I ever use to begin w/.

Thanks!

I mounted my coils under the cowl area, and also cut my own with 90 boots. (some I left straight boots on) I forget the place, but there is one that will create a set for you if you give the measurements. I had good luck with taylors, but there have been a lot who have not.

Hey, thanks. Had a brain fart and figure maybe just maybe, it's possible to use my existing 10.4 and cut them to size. Not sure how much the tool and the ends would be but I am hoping they're cheaper than buying a new set.

What valve covers do you have? Anything much taller than stockers and you will have to cut your own.

Brian,

I've got some ProForm's, and they appear to be stock height or maybe a tad taller. Did you have to use those spacers in between the bracket and vc's on yours? I know you've got those taller vc's.

So you have factory length LT1 wires now? Then yes they will be plenty long for you to use. Factory LS1 wires are a tight fit out of the box and will touch the headers, not enough length to modify for 90 degree boots.

Sillas,

I used a set from Katech made by MSD, they are meant for LS1s relocatin wires to the top of the fuel rails, they are enough length to work with my Hooker long tubes. Only down side is, they aren't 90* boots on the plug end, which still works, but I find a pain in the ***.

Is there a kit out there that I can buy to build my own then? I see universal kits but they're for the traditional style distributor etc. Got to be something out there as I don't want to chance buying a pre-made set and then being too short. Thanks guys..

Yea I used the spacers for the bracket just to keep everything directly off the cover. To make your own wires, you need the 90 deg boots, good amount of wire, and the boots for the coils. I'm using opti boots and they seem to work fine.

Trying my hardest to find 10.4 boots for the coils but they don't seem to be sold seperate, that'll suck as then I'll have to ditch my existing wires from the opti and go 8.5's.

They were way too short for my Canton VCs, I had a custom set fabbed up.
I have 10 brand new MSD LS2 coil boots left over if you want to alter your Lt1 wires or make a custom set.

Does he still make those? I couldn't get a hold of him. I assumed he was gone.

I'm not sure, I got my wires from him roughly 2 years ago. I assumed he still made them maybe not... I believe he was a sponser on here dunno if he still is. He also sold the wires on ebay too, that might be a way to get a hold of him.

Never heard of the name/guy. I'll just call Taylor and see about getting some universal lenght wires w/ the LS coil boots already installed. Supposedly you can buy them this way from them.

Actually, I bought from him a few years back too. He did great work.
But I haven't seen a post from him since 2009.

That's an option, or just use the LT1 set you already own and add LS boots.
You're going to want LT1 style 90* plug boots to clear headers.

This is what I wanted to do originally but it seemed nobody sold LS boots by themselves. Premade kits only. for LS engines.

Sure they do, they're $8 a pair from Jegs or Summit.
I have 5 pairs sitting on my workbench.

If you want to make your own just use the cut to length set of lt1's. The coils of the ls engines are the same terminal as the opti. Then all you need is the 90* part for the plug. Built a set of msd's this way for a ltcc converted car and they worked fine.

The terminal inside is the same, but the boot on an LS is bigger.
I guess you could cram an LT1 boot over an LS coil though, it just didn't seem to fit very well when I tried it.
