Default 355/383 h/c motors what is your mpg

I am building a 355 11:6:1 with le1 heads and lt4 hotcam 3200 edge racing stall and 3:42 rear gears; I am hoping for 21mpg highway. What are some of you guys with 355 or 383s getting for gas millage?

On longer trips I can touch 20 but I generally get 15-17 mpg city/highway mixed. But I do not baby my car, I built it to beat on it and thats what I do. I have a 355 11.75:1 compression, old LE3 Heads, CC306 cam, 1.6 rockers, ported intake, 58mm TB, LTs, true duals, 4.10 gears, and a 6 speed. I could probably get mid 20s if I could drive like a human, but thats no fun

Best I've gotten is almost 24mpg (was something like 23.7) that was a 3.5 hour trip to havasu going 85mph most of the way. I average 12-16mpg city/freeway mixed. I also beat on it alot.

Sound like 21mpg might be possible for my set up. I did not really build it for good mpg, but If I can do better than my moms PT looser; 19-21, I will be happy.

MPG .. does that even apply to most cars here?

I have never once thought to check what the Z gets for mileage.

I was getting 11.2 mpg (according to my phone app) before I blew my engine and that was stock (only exhaust and cai).

When I build my 355, I'm sure I'll improve mpgs over my old turd. Ironic isn't it.

~25mpg with cruise set at 80-85mph. I don't bother to check around town.

My tune is a little bit rich and I beat my car like it owes me money, Its pretty sad IMO that my cruiser car gets better gas mileage than my DD.

But I agree with the above statement, "as long as its MPG and not GPM your golden," haha thats awesome

Should do low to mid 20s mpg if you keep your foot out of it on the hwy and stay around 2300-2500k on the hwy. My dads hotcam'd car with a 3.42s does about 25-26mpg in that rpm area.

Yeah, a long time ago I got 8mpg around town...its not any better now. 14 sounds about right for hwy and I too see the gauge move even on the hwy...

All hwy I got 22mpg with 3.42s and 6 speed with my new set up. That was durring break in so I was shifting up and down fluctuating rpms. I am getting it dyno tuned this weekend. Seems a little fat on the mail order tune
