Measured with the best i had didn't have a micrometer to measure so i had a few nails i filed down to where they fit into port holes on the exhaust side.

The new motor has a 1/4 of an inch taken out width wise and height wise.

so that a lot or not much at all??

There the exhaust exits so i guess you would call this the throat?

if it is those heads from the motor you just bought then they weren't profressionally ported but the guy did seem to open them up quite a bit. for what it is worth they did help knock off a couple tenths to get that 6.9x pass on your time slip. see if you can get some pictures of the ports.

Why are you wasting your time with filing down nails and showing these pics? Just put the thing together and run it. Make sure you don't have such a horrendous exhaust leak. Hell it looks slow anyway.

I was bored sitting in the shop? lol just wanted to know if a 1/4 inch is considered "a lot" of porting

Just asking as many questions as possible about the motor looking for a stall right now not sure which way im going with that but other then that it will be ready to put in

and on the exhaust leak ive heard of people porting there own heads to where there header won't seal it and has exhaust leaks

the important thing about porting isn't how much material you remove but how well you shape the inside.

Velocity > Volume

Steveo knows more about the car than I probably do, so if you got any questions ask him.

Using a nail as a reference really won't yield a whole lot of information. There's alot more to it than just he size of the port. I would suggest running that engine on a dyno and see where your torque peak is before deciding on a stall.

Run it with whatever stall you have now, however would be the most accurate way to show torque peak. I guess locked?

Stall is stock so i guess it would show the most power possible that way. but driving it would be a bear till i got the stall

But it would be worth it if it meant it was set up correctly.
