as long as the x pipe doesnt look like poop and good clearance go for it. make sure he uses good bends and lots of hangers.

its probably a fair price, normally for a shop to put on a x pipe or custom exhaust its anywhere from 100-300$ if you supply the parts. the headers will take him probably 5-10 hours....which in shop world thats 500-1000$ alone.

personally i would charge more, especially if your giving him ebay special headers.

500 is a fair price. your basically giving him your headache lol, or migrain.

Yeah, no ebay headers..pacesetter, he was real worried about the fitment but I'm sure they will be a good fit. I should get it back tuesday (at the latest) I can't wait.. next is gears and that's gonna be... $600 for parts and install together. It's gonna hurt but I'm sure all this money towards the car will be worth it...

jkr2wld get a stall first. that will tell you how much gear you might possibly need. besides a stall will make the car get the same mpg and be much more fun to drive.

I wish I could do it, I want to learn more about this car.. I'm just learning with reading and these forums for the most part. I got a couple buddies who are faster then me.. one's a 04(?) Stang GT with Short throw, 3 inch straight pipe, intake and 4.11's, 06 350z with an intake and spacer and the other is a 07 mazdaspeed 6 with a whole lotta **** lol. we had another 05 350z with most bolt ons. But we lost that Z. I've ran both 350z and the GT (From rolls) and the GT pulls hard in 3rd and takes me by a car or car and half or more, the 06 350z Ive ran and I kept up with him the whole time when he was stock but now since he has an intake and spacer, he just pulls ugly and moves.. I'm hopin to blow past the Stang and hang with the 350 or edge him out. I'm concerned about my stock gears though.

IMO, that's a good price. Hell, some shops will charge you more than $100 just to install a muffler and tips.

If I decide to go with headers in a year or so, I'll probably have a shop install them - that's why I've asked which ones go in without any hacking. I love working on my car, but sometimes I have to balance money versus time. I try to make up the money spent by doing other stuff that's easier - like doing stuff around the house, LOL.

500 seems fair. I can do ls1 headers in 5 hours by myself, but lt1s take me a little longer. That Danny opti makes running wires a major pita.

Is suggest learning how to do it yourself and using that money for tools and a shop manual.

Headers arent so bad, granted i did mine when i was installing the motor so that may have made it easier.

I agree its a good price for what hes doing.

He means dont put money into your rear end AT ALL. not sure what you think a cover will help, but dont do that as well.

Your best bet like they are saying is to do the stall coverter, you will notice a much better gain, as far as gas mileage is concerned, expect it to drop not matter gears or stall. High rpm stall + stop light city driving is going to hurt mpg, highway will be the same.

I understand that but regardless of when or if it blows, id rather it last "longer" if it goes, will i lose the gears, thats all id be worried about.
