What i dont understand is why did the car start up and sound perfectly fine with no coolant in it even if only for a few minutes, and then after fixing the water pump and putting water in, this happens? I dont get it. Is there a list of possible problems here, or is it cut and dry headgasket or blown engine or????
Because when you put that freeze plug back in the block and poured water in the radiator and started the motor all that water went down into the block and probably seized your motor, kinda like hydro-locking your motor by driving into a lake.

what would have caused the water to go into the block?

look the engine was blown before you put water in it. for one, a damn freeze plug was missing...ever stop to think ...WHY? , secondly the dude u bought it from said it has a bad water pump? sounds like it has been over heated to me. you can start an run an engine with no coolant and generally it will run fine for a short period of time till it creates to much heat. and cashes.. or just long enough to show it to someone with money to sell it to...it was a shake machine before you bought it. 1,000 bucks for a cherry roller is a good deal so .. get a motor

and if the motor spins over it isnt hydro-locked... if it doesn't spin over then something is seized or a cylinder is full of water (hydro-locked) (water doesnt compress like air/fuel)

i posted my thought on hydrolocked before i saw this response. i do not think its hydrolocked or seized because it was still spinning when i heard the 1st clank and stopped trying.

Is there any chance in hell that its simply a head gasket and i can simply drain the water out somehow and replace the head gaskets and call it a day? or is that a pipe dream?
#34
Oh my bad i thought when you saide it went clank you shut it off and it wouldnt turm over after that,i midread my mistake.but sounds like the motor needs to be yanked man,its a pain but do-able.

If you have the money to get a shop to swap out the engine, do it. If not and you dont know where to turn and you dont want to take on the challenge yourself, part it out

it takes knowledge and tools to effectively part one of these out and make money and not break parts.... i dont suggest this route for him . either pay someone to swap a motor or refer to post #28

Doing a head gasket R&R alone will not clean the milkshake outta the motor and will result in another Fail...not to mention a head might be warped or cracked .or the block might have an issue...
