Default manual fan switch

alright say i get this switch http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=297184_0_0_
on one tab i connect the blue wire of the fan which i think is the high speed, and then on the other tab i connect the green wire that is low speed. Then the last tab i just ground it where ever their is bare metal?

Yup. All you're doing to turn in the fan is applying the ground. I just did the low speed.

and for the blue and green wire do i completly cut them and run new wire to the switch, so there is no power going to the computer?

That is an SPDT switch. Not going to work for both fan speeds.

Don't know if you are OBD-I or II. There is no car info provided.

its a 94 transam so its obd-I, whats the difference between a SPDT and DPDT switch?

SPDT = Single Pole Double Throw Has three terminals
DPDT = Double Pole Double Throw Has six terminals, like two of the above with one lever.

Single pole connects the center to one end or the other depending on the position of the lever.

alright now i get it, and for the wires do i completely cut them off or just so the wires are showing but still connected? because i heard that the fans will still work normal if you forget to turn the switch on?

You tap into the relay control wires like stated in the links I posted.

I didn't cut any wires. I used clip splices. that way if I ever have to take it off then it's no mess.

I just bought the SLP switch, instead of making my own. I hate wiring. much easier. Had one on both my LT1's. Lets you have 2 speeds.
