Also lowering the lsa will typically make it sound choppier.

You can run the 280xfi. XFI lobes are more aggressive and will require a bit more spring. I think comp recommends their 918 beehives with the xfi cams. They make good power. Not a ton of people using them so you'd be a little different than most. There is another thread on here by a guy that just dyno'd with one. He made pretty darn good numbers with it.

I bought valve springs when i thought i had a free hotcam to use. then that fell through. I got the "high lift" lt1 spring kit from alexs parts. will they work with the 280xfi? specs are as follows:
OD: 1.268"
ID: .880"
Coil Bind: 1.120"
130 Lbs @ 1.790" <-- valve closed pressure

330 Lbs @ .500" Lift
345 Lbs @ .550" Lift
360 Lbs @ .600" lift

Installed Load: 125 lbs @ 1.800"
Open Load: 348 lbs @ 1.200"
Spring Rate: 372 lbs/in
Coil Bind Height: 1.110"
Outside Diameter: 1.290"/1.060”
Inside Diameter: .885"/.656”
Retainer: TI 772/Steel 774
Part # 26918-16

That's what comp recommends for the XFI cams. Looks pretty similar

thanks for finding that info. seems like they'll work just fine. after seeing the dyno numbers that just popped up in nater36's thread i think i'll stick with the 280xfi. the few videos ive found sound pretty good and most say its a good street cam. what do i do about a stall though? will i be ok without for awhile?

Youll be "ok" without it as in the car will run. But you will probably be putting both feet on the brakes at stop lights or having to pop it in neutral. Car will also be kinda sluggish down low. Id just save for the stall and do it all at once.

Went looking for the specs on the ai 226/234 cam. Nothing on their web page?
