Default dailiy driver lt1 build

whats a good daily driver build for a lt1. I want something with a little more kick and sound for my firehawk. i getting the basics pacesetter long tube headers, sub frame connectors, k&N ait filter, msd ignition kit from jegs, but i want to do something with the motor, also i like to get some gauges other then oil press and witch other gauges are good to get. the guy i bought it from lowered it will the long tubes scrap or should i raise it back up. Is there any way to clean up the engine bay of all the clutter and make it look nicer and spacey this is one main thing i like to do

what year is the car?
how many miles on the motor?
has the opti or wires ever been replaced?
6 speed or auto trans?
what MSD ignition kit were you referring to?
do you have a budget in mind?

These above questions can help everyone help you a bit better. There are a good amount of guys here who can help point you in the right direction.

The LT's will surely take away ground clearance, but many of us here have lowered cars and LT's. The thing is paying attention while out on the road so you do not tear them off.

lots of links to engine bay detail/mod info

94 firehawk its a new motor with no miles its a re-manufactured longblock, the one that was in it ether dropped a valve or threw a rod there oil all over everything under the car looks like someone drove threw a bucket of black paint lol. thats how i got the car so cheap im gonna get it rebuilt later down the road if its fixable
and im getting the complete msd ignition kid from jegs the $900 one
its automatic but i might get a aftermarket tranny later
as for the budget the engine budget i like to keep less the 3 grand or right at it
the link you posted does not work

wow instead of asking 10 birrion questions try a search. I never wanted to be that guy, that always just says "TRY A SEARCH", but come on.

shouldn't be allowed to post on ls1tech until after a certain amount of hours spent reading..or days spent reading.

o.k .. sounds like you need to do some major underbody degreasing as the first mod

I would suggest against an MSD Opti. I have seen many issues first hand and have had the best luck with an OEM Delphi unit. The vented conversion would be the best route. ( good time with cam swap )
The ignition box for just an NA setup is not going to help either, so save the money. I would only suggest it if you were forced induction or N20.

gauges are not needed, so this again is an area you can save some money to address the HP / Performance dept.

LT's and ORY would be a nice upgrade with a cutout. I would be sure to get good bolts and gaskets and not use the cheap stuff that is supplied with most.

-ARP-400-1209
-Mr. Gasket 5965

K&N air filter is a good idea

new plugs and wires

SS3200 - SS3600 stall with a good cooler

Basic Tune

The cam package would be the next step and LE or AI would be 2 good guys to put something together. This would be tough do so within the budget unless you are performing the work yourself.

BTW: The link works for me, but you can also search for wire mod and many engine bay threads will come up.

good luck

I have tried searching forums and google and all i get is the same thing people who go off topic never answer the questions asked and bicker at each other and say try a search or call your local performance place. i found a few searches that answered a few questions but not the important ones.

With a 3 g budget, id do a complete exhaust (headers,y pipe, catback), a stall and cc503 cam with valvetrain upgrade with tune. Should be right about your budget if you do all the work.

i daily drive a camaro with AI's 190 heads and their 230/238 cam but that package just right there is 3 grand. and you wouldnt even be able to do anything with the bottom end. alot of the guys always say go custom which is great if you have the money and want every last hp out of it but really the off the shelf cams are fine. just remember when picking a cam you can always go to big but never to small

Full bolt ons
Custom, not mail order, tune
Torquey cam (crane 227, lpe 211/219)
17x11 315s out back.
Stock stall.
3.73s.

That'd be a pretty sweet DD setup I think.

I did my own. A local club tuner can help you out. It can produce significant gains in all aspects of drivability and performance.

I gained the most power from pulling partial throttle timing below 3000 rpms. A mail tuner or dyno tuner won't necessarily be able to go this in depth.
