CSR hands down. Even though you have to SLIGHTLY grind the pump housing for it to fit, no one will ever see it. No fan shroud hacking - it looks like it should be there.

Even with the HD pump you can't see the fan shroud hacking.

The CSR has worked much better and reliably for us. FWIW
Kickin' up the dust on this old thread but I was looking to see how much shroud cutting was required. I just bought a Meziere HD for my 96 TA because my CSR went out in 725 miles on a brand new $10,000.00 engine and caused me to have to do some major work. Never will buy another CSR pump. Went with the Meziere HD because of nothing but good things from the guys around here that run them.

I run the mezier HD, it is pretty long. I have cut a notch in the shroud with a dremmel tool. My radiator is angled back for the Ls1 lid conversion and it pins the fan blade so i would have to slice the blade in half, paper thin. So i just unplugged it, and so far the use of one fan has kept my motor extremely cool. Barely comes up on the guage, im not even sure yet if the thermostat is opening. Lol. I have not had mine long but i like it so far!!!!

Not much. Best way is to just mount the pump and put the fan shroud up in the general area (unless there are pics). I used a pair of dikes. Made quick work of it. The "hacking" will go completely unnoticed if the shroud is in the stock position.

I've used Meziere, Jegs, and CSR. The Meziere is the best built of them. The Jegs is nothing special, but it works fine. The CSR I had lasted about a year before the shaft seal failed, that let coolant in the windings.

I really wish I had built this motor 12:1 instead of 11:1... how the hell was I ever worried about heat and detonation???? :S
My low compression (9.3:1 or so) 383 generates an assload of heat. I've seen 3/8 on the gauge even with the HD pump. My t-stat is 160 and my fans come on early too.
