Default Need installed header pics!

So I pulled off my Mac mids to replace them with ebay stainless headers. Problem comes now because the Ebay ones will not allow the steering shaft to fit at all. So now I'm thinking about just getting a set of Pacesetters because of how the number 1 primary is bent. Basically I need everyones help by posting pics of installed headers from the top so I can see how the primary is bent around the steering shaft. I believe mine don't fit because my car was wrecked into on the driver side front so I believe the frame rail is off just enough to throw it out of wack.

Before anyone asks yes I did move steering column and replace motor mounts. There is no way the steering shaft will go in.

I've heard of people grinding down their knuckle so it would fit. I didn't have any problems like that with my hooker supercomps.

I went with jet hots over the pacesetters this time, I tried the ebay stainless route as well and it just wasnt working out for me so instead of buying a product i already used i figured id give the jet hots a shot.

Dont really need pictures to justify the steering shaft ease, considering the #1 primary is seperate from the rest of the header.

Ive learned one thing, all headers have their issues. Fitment wise these jet hots have no issues, but what goes along with that is a possible #1 primary leak where it slip fits, and getting them into the engine bay without banging them up. Then you also have to get a hooker y pipe which costs about as much as a set of ebay headers .

The pacesetters are a good buy, money vs issues id say they are the best bet. Some people would disagree with that 100% and say the ebay stainless headers are the best buy, claiming the issues that the headers gave them only slowed them down by 30-45 minutes. I guess it totally depends on the car and condition.

Another thing you might want to consider is buying a set of energy suspension motor mounts. Amazingly ive found that Autozone to have the best prices or fastest shipping if they are out of them (yea i know, blew my mind too).

that's before i put the column back in (took it out to drill out the header bolt snapped in the back of the head) but that is how the pipes bend on hookers and they work well. the job is a bitch and a half though.

I've grinded down the shaft too. It's actually smaller than the ls1 shaft I purchased to replace it with so I'll stay with my lt1 shaft. And as mentioned i did replace motor mounts. Those hookers look to be bent almost like my macs with the slip fit and all. But even the macs had to be clearanced a hair.

these are wrapped pacesetter, one i turned the wheel all the way left and right it made a little spot in the wrap so it would not bind.

I may be wrong but I thought the pacesetter primary is routed about the same as the eBay headers.

I can see where you may have a problem with a wrecked car. I only have about an 1/8" at my steering knuckle. I just had to move the knuckle down about a 1/4 inch and I flattened the primary a little where it was hitting.

On the pacesetter the number 1 looks like its pushed closer to the motor side since it goes up and over number 3 and 5. The ebay ones stay to the outside of 3 and 5 which is causing my issue I believe.

Bang the primary a little if you have too. That wont hurt anything.

Pacesetter fits really well, fwiw.

Well if you have to beat the turtle **** out of it then you're on the right track to getting a new header. There is a point where its to much.

You could try and get a flaming river rag joint and new shaft that mounts to the wheel input off the firewall. I had to do that for my hedmans.

I can get pics of the header itself but can't put it back in until Saturday maybe because I work a 24 hour shift tomorrow.

Ive installed a set of Jet Hots and a set of Pacesetters both with air and egr. Neither had any issues hitting the k member, steering shaft, or floors.

My pacesetter's hit the k member on one side, but my motor mounts were right fucked also. Made a couple noises initially, but after the header wore in to its new surroundings it was very happy

I had to do quite some grinding on my steering knuckle, and had to move the shaft over by loosening the bolts and shifting it over a bit to change the position slightly. Not that bad at all, it worked. Have you tried shifting the shaft over? These are ap1ap2 headers

Here's one of mine- Pacesetter 2239s (no emissions). #1 primary goes above it, nowhere near the steering shaft. #3 goes just inboard and behind it. #4 on the passenger side is always a bit close to the wiring for the ground, knock sensor & pass. side O2, but there's ways to slide and arrange it so it won't get crispy. Here I've wrapped those wires with header wrap- later slid it forward where it isn't touching anything. I secured it from below where I wanted it with a zip tie.

I like Pacesetters... 2 sets have fit well and been easy to install on my '94 cars.

I run pacesetter and I did not have to hit or bang anything on the header itself. But the y pipe is a bitch on the driver side. I had to notch the subframe some so it would not rattle on he floor board. Once that was notched everything went on great.

So I'm pretty sure I wanna get Pacesetters now because they look like they will clear everything. If anyone has any for sale please let me know. I'd be willing to buy outright o trade for my Ebay knockoffs or Mac mids. Be on the lookout for them in the for sale section. Later today I will post a pic of my ebay ones so you can see how much I dented them and they still didn't fit. The number 1 was almost directly on the shaft coming out of the firewall.
