Default operation supe up car

so i have a stock lt1 with 111k miles on it. id like to get something like a turbocharger or a supercharger for it, some sort of bolt on, and id like to know what would be the best choice at a decent price, and what midifications i would have to do to the engine to install it

before going that far you'd probably want to do the basics first. Headers, exhaust, cold air intake, and a cam. You gotta help the motor breathe

Fixed....

You need to put the brakes on.....Before you can do any sort of power adder (Supercharger,Turbo, Nitrous) you need to address quite a few areas of your car before any of this can happen.

First of all what do you use your car for? Street? Strip? DD? Auto X? Mixture of all?

Before you go throwing on some type of power adder, you NEED to get Headers(Longtubes if your state allows), full exhaust, cold air intake of some sort.

If you want to put that kind of power to the ground, you're gonna need some suspension work also. Otherwise you're wasting your time.

Drag radials are a plus if you want some traction when launching.

If your car is an auto you'll want at least a 3000+ stall converter and some 3:73 gears in the rearend.

Then you'll need a tune for all this also.

Not to discourage you but you really need to realize what it takes to be able to go fast. Money will decide if you can do that or not and if you want to add a supercharger or turbo system your looking at $12K+ for hopefully getting all the thing you need to support it.

Another thing is that a stock motor with that many miles is not really gonna like being Forced Inducted for very long. Even with a good tune and low boost, I would say it's on borrowed time depending on how the motor runs now or has been treated in its life.

You need to do A LOT of research before you can just go superchargin' ****!

Head work and a cam will add almost as much as slapping a supercharger on an otherwise totally stock '94 and with a few more bucks you could also freshen up the bottom end with some forged pistons and ARP rod bolts.

Not if that power adder is a front mount turbo.

Full exhaust, better intake and spray the bitch until it's time to rebuild will be your best and cheapest route. Like someone else said why do all that to a motor that may give out?

Any motors may give out. Why mod at all?

I would definitely do headers and a cai before a turbo like most are suggesting in this thread.

Just wouldn't supercharge or turbo a stock motor, I would rebuild it then go from there. Why pay that kind of money on a stock motor? If you wanna go fast and on a budget my opinion just spray and pray. Personally I'd never spray it I would do a motor work then maybe forced induction but i'm keeping mine a DD so need a project car later down the road.

although it is funny how people think they can just easily throw forced induction on a bone stock car

don't get a cai if you're gonna go forced induction. it'll be a waste of money in the long run. so will headers if you do a front mount turbo set-up

Get exhaust heads cam intake throttle body. Then do full suspension. Then your car will be ready to handle to boost of a forced induction build

At least he's not one of these that things he can get the whine of a s/c through a cai lol.

But on a serious note, work from the ground up. Start with some good tires to get the car moving and suspension parts such as a tq are and relocation bracket, lca relocation brackets and what not. Brakes to stop the car when you get power. Then start on the performance mods.

You could find a cheap powerdyne kit and make over 300rwhp stock. Near 400 with boltons and 6psi. I've seen kits going pretty cheap just keep an eye out.
