Default will an lt4 work in a camaro

i can get my hands on a complete lt4 with computer from a 95 vette and was wondering if it will work in my camaro. i think i might have to put my accessorie brackets from the lt1 on but is there anything else?

not sure what else you'll need but GM put an LT4 in 100 special 1997 30th ann Camaro SS's so i'd say yes you can use it in your car.

as far as i know, with all of the major parts, everything is a direct swap

An LT4 did not come in a 95 'vette. Better be sure what it is.

yeah i didn't even notice that in his post. i wonder if he meant 96. that was the only vette that had it, 96 6 speeds.

maybe he ment LT5 lol going by his sig though i cant imagine an LT4 would be much better then what he has

I took it as meaning the pcm itself is from a '95.

i was told its an lt4 out of a special edition vette with a 6 speed thats im not sure on year but since it was a 6 speed i dont think the pcm will work with my car. im looking to swap it because i wanna get rid of the car and save my lt1 for another hot rod.

1996 Car..Collectors Edition or Grandsport. That ZF Trans is expensive to work on..

Hell I'd keep the lt4, zf 6 spd and pcm and use that in your other project.

Make sure the intake just isn't painted red if that was the case about 50% of LT1s can be mistaken for the LT4 because of the intake.

Unless your 100% sure its an LT4 and you are getting it for a good price why not just cam your LT1 and call it a day?

Here's how to tell for sure, pull the oilpan and look for 4 bolt mains, if yes then you're half way home, next oull the intake and look at the intake ports in the heads if they're tall and rectangular then you should be good to go. Also pull the valve covers and look fot LT4 cast into the heads.

Just look for the raised edge on the intake manifold where it meets the heads. GM put extra material there with the intent of opening the port on the manifold for the raised port on the head. As well as pulling the valve covers and looking for the casting numbers.

Chowderhead here brings up a good point.
GM made an EGR block off plate for the LT4 which was pretty thick and rounded. That would be the first place to look. If there is a block off plate and it's flat and thin then most likely it's aftermarket and should lead to further investigation.
