Maintenance and longevity will be directly affected by the quality of the components you run, whether or not they're appropriate, the competence of the builder, the diligence of the user, and the competence/experience of the cam provider.

We have many .660-.710" or so net lift setups running on the street, road racing multiple seasons, etc. It isn't cheap, & the head needs to be built around it, but it isn't anything new and is more than doable. Spring life can be adjusted somewhat & lash adjustments are typically required every 3-5k miles, though it depends on the individual setup.

Mike's setup is a good example. Relatively mild high .6XX" lift cam, quality parts, highly competent guy, etc.

Most guys are better off spending $ on better heads & staying HR or small/mild SR in our experience.
