Default Can we swap out our stock LT1 rocker arms for 7/16 studs without machining??

At one point I had read somewhere that our stock rocker studs are 7/16 on the bottom and 3/8 on the top. And that if we wanted 7/16 on top and bottom it was as easy as a swap out with no machining. But maybe I'm wrong. Plz share your thoughts.

Yes you can swap them. The bottoms of the rocker studs are the same on the 3/8's and the 7/16's. Just take the 3/8 out and screw in the 7/16.

not sure if stock rocker arms will fit over the 7/16th stud but you will definately have to buy correct fitting rocker arm nuts for the wider studs.

No they won't. You will have to get 7/16 rockers for the 7/16 studs.

I haven't bought the rocker arms yet becuz of that. So that's ok basically we can't mix rocker arm sizes. But we can swap our stock 3/8 studs for the 7/16 studs without machining!!
When ordering them I'm guessing they should be basically rocker arm studs specifying 7/16 top and 7/16 bottom. Phucken great news, thanx a million.

Oh that isn't a water jacker behind it right?? or should I have to pull a water plug when swapping?? I'll probably be able to tell when I pull the valve cover off but curious now.

This is correct, you have to match them. I have 7/16" top 3/8" bottom ARP rocker studs with Comp Hi-Tech Stainless 1.7 RRs. The studs just replace what the OE had in place, just match the rockers.

woah wait a minute. What do we have stock??? Isn't it 3/8 top and 7/16 bottom??
Allowing us to swap to 7/16 top and bottom.
Brett your saying your running only 7/16 top and still 3/8 bottom??? so our bottom is 3/8s????? then we'd be fooling ourselves in thinking it was a real 7/16 no??
I thought 7/16 is both top and bottom or there wouldn't be any added strength?? U sure that's what you got??
Top is for the rocker arms.
Bottom is inside the head.
