Default Misfire at 5k RPM?

today while i was driving my 95 z28 i noticed that when i went WOT shifting up to 3rd at around 5K rpm and it was hesitating pretty bad. im pretty sure it was misfiring and nothing with the transmission but not 100% sure cause it eventually went into 3rd at around 6k. the car runs perfect besides that, pulls good before and after the hesitation. it has new plugs, wire, cap and rotor with less than 2k miles on them. it only seems to do it when im in 2nd going to 3rd.

what should i check out? is this a hint that the opti is on its way out?

i've had the same problem and it seemed to be only at the top of second. but also toward the top of third the exhaust note would change and sound a bit flat. i had similar mods at the time. no help from me but know what you're struggling with...

Mine was doing the same thing since i got it. After some troubleshooting turns out it was the ICM. Fixed it yesterday.

tomorrow i have to take it to work so ill see if it just does it from 2nd into 3rd or if it just does it a 5k rpm no matter what gear its in. forgot to mention it hasnt thrown an SES light, but it might not have been misfiring long enough to throw a code.

Mike as soon as my trucks all set ill let ya know, so u can tune it also.
