Best Differential for my 7.625 10 bolt, Broke the Stocker.

I went with the S60. That said I'm not sure it was the best choice. I had the impression it was a real Dana 60. It's not! Go to the gears and axles section and read the S60 stuff. They are failing. At least with a 9" if it does bite the dust you can fix it easily.
My 9.0 car has a real Dana 60 and it's there for the duration. Let a friend drive it and he accidentally hit the trans brake at about 100 feet out. Nothing broke! The car just locked up and stopped. Hats off to the mighty PowerGlide! Just try to wrap your mind around what must have happened to the drive line. Almost 1,000 horsepower plus the inertia of the car.

So far as it being a real Dana 60 or not wouldn't change the facts that it is beefier and stronger than either a 12 bolt or a 9". Although I havent seen one under a 1000 rwhp monster yet either, but of all the ones around here (some over 700rwhp) they have held up fine. Still interested in reading about the failures.

I run the S60 also............awesome rear end..........im not sure what you guys are seeing about the Dana's breaking......if they are its gotta be assembley issues.....ive never had an issue with mine in 6 years.......got a couple of friends with them too with no issues either........

Most V6s don't have limited slip differential. If you can call and get the vin, you can look it up here and get all the details you need.

You should just toss another 10bolt in there, just like everyone is saying.
Rear end selection is pretty tough actually, I took forever to decide.
-S60 is heavy, not as many gear choices but will never break and has a good price point.
-Fab9, lightest, has tq arm assembly and most gear choices
-12 bolt, weakest, cheapest and good selection.
Diffs are even harder
-Spool, really hard for a street car (as both wheels are turning) but is cheap and never breaks, well rarley
-Wavtrac, expensive but has lifetime warranty. best of both worlds.
-Trutrac, weakest, cheapest but works for under 600hp.

Dana S60 is the best for a street or street/strip car that you just want to "set it and forget it". Pretty sure the options for posi are strongest with the Dana too (spool/locker on the street meh). It is also a 100% direct fit (ok, 99%, you need to buy a couple of small bolts from the hardware store because the sway bar mounts differently. It doesn't use those dumb u/saddle bolt designs.
Ford 9" is better for a race car that is going to swap gear ratios or otherwise take it apart often. Most I've seen aren't 100% true bolt in fits.
12 bolt, honestly can't see too many advantages. Also as cars get stronger and faster these are starting to reach their breaking point.
8.8 same as a 12 bolt, lots of fab work, only do it if you want to be different or want to save money and you're really good at fabbing/welding.
