Default Pickup bolted to oil pump (pic), still tack weld?

Haven't torqued the pickup down fully yet as you can see here but is it still necessary to tack weld the pickup? Also, I hope the space between the pickup and the pan is right since it's obviously not adjustable.

Just locktite the bolts. There's no way that is gonna move. People will tack weld the press-on pickup tubes.

As easy as it is to tack why not tack? then you know for sure it has no chance of coming off. Just the way i look at it.

Lol its bolted on, there is no need to tack it as long as you loctite the bolts. I only tack the press on pickups.

I understand the whole "better safe then sorry" thing, but that is completely unnecessary.

I agree. Seems the idea of bolting it on would do away with the need for tacking.

Trying to check for the pickup depth and can't even get the Moroso pan on cause that right angle pickup tap is hitting the inside of the pan! Dremmel time!!! (on the pan, not the pickup)

i have the same pick up. No need at all for tacking it. How is it going to move if its bolted on to the pump?

Did you have problems getting the pan on and off? That right angle that's welded to the pickup tube is getting in the way. Had to bust out the dremmel but still having fitment issues.

no no no, don't weld the oil-pump together... just the pickup to the pump. Either I was confused or all of us were. I always thought it was one of the 10 comandments of building an engine, its like the crank hub, it's pressed on and look what happens to them...
