thanks for the link Shbox it did help, so i dont know if its the key not giving a good reading anymore, or the key inginition cylinder. I took my key into the dealership and they were able to get the value of my key off there key reader. So would the key still be faulty in the system even though i had a good reading? and would i lean to the key ingintion cylinder being bad?

thanks

You can check to see if the key cylinder and it's wiring is ok or not. Put your key in the ignition, unplug the VATS connector under the steering column and check resistance on the two little wires going back up to the key. It should be about the same as reading the chip in the key, itself.

If you know the value put a resistor or resistors between the two wires going up to the key cylinder it will bypass the security and Thu light goes out never to return again. The two wires at small and in a cover. If you need more info pm me I can get you the correct colors for resistors and wires

is it possible for the security light to go off due to the gas tank opening? The plastic part around the gas tank cover. Im not sure where i read this could also trigger the security light.
