Is this guy giving me crap or not.

I was showing a buddy of mine my car and cut outs and this douche bag is like "uhh what year is this 94" no 97... "uhh no cats" no.... tuned out. "whyyyy it runs better with the cats, without it in open loop and uhhh man..." I just left at that point but can i rip him apart if i see him again or does he have a valid point? The main question if you can't tell from the above conversation is does my car run better as is with the cats...?

it runs better with cats? with or without really dont effect performance much at all if any with your mods. we're talking about cats not o2 sensors whats he thinking?

basically your car runs the same, not gonna run worse without them thats for sure. if it changes anythign its like 1/2 hp

No 4 stroke engine "needs" backpressure. Were it brand new "high-flo" cats you might gain 3-5 HP by removing it, but since it's a used factory cat you'll gain quite a bit, I'm not talking 25 hp or anything, but it will be noticeable.
