I think Eagle is way under rated and have no issues with their forged stuff. Hell after all records have been set using them. Like Bob Kurgans NMCA drag radial pass at 7.85@175

Thanks Larry! If it wasnt for you this car wouldnt be anywhere near it is. Thanks for hooking me up with Eric.

As for the heads Its going to use my current LE2s(for now) a LE ported Vic jr with Nitrous Outlet spray bar, a LE HR custom cam,and a built TH350. Should be good for mid 9s maybe faster in good weather. Ill build it over the winter since its so late in the season already.

Curious, how did the cranks journals look did they have to be cleaned up and polished again before balancing? Or were they good Outta the box?

I actually bought a brand new 383 with -16cc pistons from a guy that needed cash for 350 bucks. The engine was never run and came with a PP balancer, lifters, timing set, new vented opti, cam, timing cover etc. Deal of a lifetime. Only prob with the motor was somehow when the kid was away at school the oil pan got filled with water and froze so he sold it dirt cheap. I wanted more compression anyways and splayed caps so Larry hooked me up with my builder. Anyways everything looked and checked out great except the bores were on the tight side for spray and the caps were already align honed so we started with a new block. The crank just got a quick polish and was good to go, and the rods got a hone on the big end to make everything perfect. I would say after I sold some of the stuff that came in the orig 383 I have about 2k in this one the way it sits. My builder says there is absolutely nothing wrong with Eagle forged stuff and has seen more failures with higher end parts.

Looks close to mine with the billet caps, half fill. I just used compstar and carrillo for a rotating assembly. Pretty excited to see this thing going. You still going to rock a HYD roller cam?

I ran Eagle rotating in my 96 so I would have no concerns on the setup you have. I have always enjoyed helping you out anyway I could. I'm sure the car will meet your 9 sec goal once you get the package together and actually get away from work to test the car.

Identical to my shortblock half fill and all except for the caps, mine are Eagle lol. Also, I have L19 rod bolts instead of the 2000s so it took a bit more clearancing.

Can't wait to see it finished, how much do you plan on spraying?
