Default Does this go there, if not where?

Putting back my engine, getting ready to install the opti next, but I found this part near my stack of parts (most are labeled) and it has a GM stamp on it.

If fits right in the timing cover, but from books and online search, it does not appear to actually belong there.

Anyone know where it belongs?

Thats the reluctor ring that goes on the crank by the timing chain inside the timming cover. make sure you turn it around before you put it on.

In other words I'm fucked!

I have to take off the oil pan, and timing cover now, and redo sealant.

Yea it goes inside. What exactly are you doing with the engine? if you don't need it in the tune you could always just get a 94 95 crank hub but I think the cost of the part is about the same as just redoing the sealant.

I'm just putting it back together. I pretty much freshened it up, and redid all gaskets.

Yea just take the time then other wise the PCM will be triggering the CEL light for miss fires. It is used to check for miss fires from what I have been told. Also the crank hub is used to hold it flat against the Crank timing sproket. You need it in there to align and hold those tight and straight.

Did anyone else get a chuckle out of where the OP put the reluctor?

Anyway, unfortunately you have to pull off the timing cover. Goes behind the crank hub.

Aren't you using some references for putting it back together?

LOL! I can relate. I bolted down my heads and forgot the thread sealant. Wasted a perfectly good set of head gaskets. At least you don't have to shell out any more $$ for your mistake like I did.

It ******* fits perfect, it just snaps in place.

Shbox, yeah, I'm using your website and the gm service manual.

You have a blue gasket or cork? Felpro blue you can reuse, the cork I would just replace it.

I have a GM gray rubber. It was brand new, just put on. I'll reuse it.

Thanks.
