Default Hacking A Car Up...

So I have the opportunity to buy another LT1 car very cheap. VERY CHEAP. Now its a pile of **** though. Lousy interior, faded/damaged paint, squeaks, rattles, the whole works. It is a six speed but its bone stock beside ricer painted interior parts and a muffler. The car is way too far gone to restore. The cost involved are just not worth it. But I don't wanna get wrapped up in two LT1 cars economically speaking. So I figure I can buy this car, not put a dime into it right now, and gut the **** out of it. I'm talking door panels, dash, back seats, passenger seat, carpet, consoles, radio equipment, inner genders, etc. I'm talking ALL THE WAY gutted. I wouldn't be hurting anything because the only things worth a **** on the car are the motor and trans. So has anyone ever done this? Gutted a stock LT1 car completely, stuck some DRs on it, and went to the track? It seems like you could remove 700+ pounds of stuff if you just went karawak on everything. Hole saws, grinders, sawzalls, the works. What kind of times could you be looking at doing this? I'm gonna be ballsy and say that it could hit bottom 13s at least. Maybe not though. Input?

Well the asking price is 1200 dollars. But I ain't gonna pay that much. I figure I can get it for 900. Dude needs money for court fees and fines. So he will take what he can get. I just know it'll be under 1300. And at that price I won't feel bad about gutting it and prepping it for a dedicated race car.

Depends on your area i guess, Id ****** up that for 1300 in a heart beat if it started. I paid $2400 for my 150k a4 hard top 3 years ago. Paint was shot, and had only one rust spot. Ran like a champ tho.

oh man, I'd walk in with 8 crisp $100 bills knowing that....

I say go for it but don't destroy anything when pulling it out so you can sell it. you could part that car and make a little money as long as you don't blow it up.

Interior is the normal gray/black scheme. Except with hundreds of doo-doo stains and dozens of different flavors of kool-aid staining the carpet. The whole dash is cracked. It's total garbage. Prolly the worst I've ever seen in an fbody.

Sounds like a fun plan. Sometimes I wish I could find a nice shift boot or something and just get rid of my center console, kind of an old school look.

Eh if the money is burning a hole in your pocket go for it! Let us know what it ends up weighing and running.

it could deffinetly be cool. Ive wanted to do the same thing and tuck the wireing harness's somehow, paint the floor with truck bed liner or just spray paint it black. Just so it looks somewhat decent inside and a bunch of wires arent exposed. Just some black wire loom would probably go along way looks wise. Removing door panels never really seemed worth it to me, they are light weight anyways. I think sheet metal door panels would be the best.

Other things to consider, suspension parts...Thats a safety issue lol. Seats for the front on the cheap.

Sounds like it could be a fun project, nothing fancy...purpose built.

The fact its an M6, and the thought of it gutted....Id go more for autocross or road racing then drag racing. Could be VERY fun.
