Hacking A Car Up...
So I have the opportunity to buy another LT1 car very cheap. VERY CHEAP. Now its a pile of **** though. Lousy interior, faded/damaged paint, squeaks, rattles, the whole works. It is a six speed but its bone stock beside ricer painted interior parts and a muffler. The car is way too far gone to restore. The cost involved are just not worth it. But I don't wanna get wrapped up in two LT1 cars economically speaking. So I figure I can buy this car, not put a dime into it right now, and gut the **** out of it. I'm talking door panels, dash, back seats, passenger seat, carpet, consoles, radio equipment, inner genders, etc. I'm talking ALL THE WAY gutted. I wouldn't be hurting anything because the only things worth a **** on the car are the motor and trans. So has anyone ever done this? Gutted a stock LT1 car completely, stuck some DRs on it, and went to the track? It seems like you could remove 700+ pounds of stuff if you just went karawak on everything. Hole saws, grinders, sawzalls, the works. What kind of times could you be looking at doing this? I'm gonna be ballsy and say that it could hit bottom 13s at least. Maybe not though. Input?
