Default Pacesetter offroad Headers worth it?

I've already bought a set of pacesetter short tube headers for my 97 z28, still have to buy y pipe and copper gaskets, is the power gain worth the money? The lowest estimate I got for install were 350$ and 450$ and highest was around 800$! What kind of gains should I expect? I already have an air intake and it's straight piped from cat back. I do plan on having it tuned afterwards as well...thanks

Do it yourself . Yes headers are a worth while mod , providing you have supporting mods and a tune.

An lt1 f-body isn't a car you want if you want to start modding and don't have time and tools, unless you have a deep pocket and don't have to ask about prices.... Just be prepared

if i were to pay $800 to get headers installed, id expect a ******* from the secretary lady while they install them. And some dinner included.

Find a friend to give you a hand. Itll speed things up a bit, and theres no special tools required. Just a basic set,. I dont think shorties will be as difficult to install as longtubes. If not then find the cheapest place to install them.

Actually they would bend you over the table while the parts guy did the job.

I would love to do the job myself just for the experience but all I have are rhino ramps not jack stands and not even a complete tool set haha just bits and pieces, don't get me wrong I've done work on her before but this is a little bigger than I can handle at the moment, I will probably end of taking it to the shop thy quote me 450$ because they are fast and I've seen them working on drag cars and other high performance vehicles plenty of times.

Do not weld the y-pipe to either the headers or the intermediate pipe.

Edit: Where are you from?

I'm still half a noob when it comes to certain aspects of cars, I just figured that would help eliminate an exhaust leak? I live in Tupelo, Mississippi

Why so it's easier to take off for other work? And why does it matter where I live even though I already answered ha

20whp isn't uncommon. And you don't NEED a tune with headers.

I asked where you are from in case someone from the forum is close by and willing to give you a hand.

If you weld everything on, how would you get it all out? Don't worry about leaks. Good clamps are just as good as welds.
