Default Pushrod length...how am i looking? Pro's come in..

ok,on the top end of my 383 build
LE heads.. milled .020 , .026 crushed head gasket , 1.6 rocker, small base circle cam.

i disassembled a lifter and used washers inside to make it solid, reinstalled pushrod cup and retainer clip .. and at zero lash and no preload (because it wont) .. and here is a picture of my wear pattern.. Based on the use of my pushrod tool and a digital caliper i estimate my pushrod length at 7.125 .
am i approaching this properly.. Am i where i wana be on geometry?
Lloyd Elliott suggested once i get proper geometry go zero lash and 1/4 turn to set..
help?

Looks darn good. For ***** and giggles, go .050" longer and see if the sweep narrows more without the pattern moving too much toward the header. IMO, narrow sweep trumps centered pattern assuming the pattern is not to far toward the header.

FTR most pushrod sizes are in increments of .050".

ok here is .025 more in length ,zero lash, solid lifter for checking,no preload..making length estimated to be 7.150..the wear pattern went from .060 previously to .058

I like the second one. Narrower sweep = good.

Agreed the second is best. The smaller the sweep, the less parasitic loss to friction which means mo power. That small amount of pattern offset will not pose any issue at all.

IIRC, my pattern placement looks very much like that but my sweep is closer to .050". I say run that that size in the second picture.
