Default BMR+BrakeMotive+Nitto Tires = One Sweet Ride!!!

So I've been working on my 97Z project. Latest thing accomplished was the BMR handling package, which consisted of.

-set of 4 lower springs
-shocks and struts
-front and rear sway bars
-rear control arms
-strut tower brace
-sub frame connectors
-adjustable panhard bar

have the control arm relocation brackets that i wasnt sure how to install and the sub frames havent gone on yet cause i dont have a welder and dont know how to weld

Got the complete set of drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads from BrakeMotive and 275/40R17 Nitto NT555 Extreme performance tires on OEM SS ZR1 style wheels. 17x9.5 all around.

On to the pics. Ill be posting more up later on.

Here is the OEM spindle after I wire brushed it.

After some rustoleum spray

Here is the upper control arm after the rustoleum paint dried. Left a very nice and durable flat black layer.

Here is the front end with the painted spindle, new strut and spring. You can also see the sway bar going to the spindle.

Here is with the Rotor up to it. I completely forgot about the caliper. I should've painted it black too or maybe orange to match the stripes on the car?

Heres the rear of the car. You can see the old crappy control arms, breaks and springs.

Now with the new components.

Comparison from the OEM springs to the BMR springs

OEM control arms and BMR control arms

How the car sat

and now, here is how the car sits.

The car from stock to this is like night and day! No body roll. Where you turn the wheel is where the car goes, no waiting for the car to find where the tires are pointed.

The shocks are firm but absorb bumps pretty well. The only issue I had while installing the Tokiko shocks is that one of the struts threads were flat. I had to take them to get reworked cause the car was torn open. If i contacted BMR with the issue it wouldve taken too long to have the shock sent back and by the time it shipped back to me. But the new threading did the trick with a new lock nut.

The tires give it great confidence while driving. Smooth and grippy. The Rotors behind the wheel look great! They perform just as good as they look.

Satisfied with the results!!

Will that package also help at the track? Or is it just for street handling and cornering?

oh man, runs like a champ! The OEM 17's look perfect on it. My brother helped me install everything and we borrowed my brother in laws air compressor.

My bro in law damn near pissed his pants at how well it drives and takes turns. When i saw him take the turn coming back toward my house was awesome. Looks low and wide, just perfect.

it should help on the track as well if im not mistaken. the control arms with relocation brackets help transfer the power down to the differential. Still need to install the relocation brackets and sub frame connectors.

i imagine its better since the control arms dont bow under acceleration like the OEM ones do

Can someone help me with the adjustable PHB? its also BMR.

The diff looks like its about 3/4" over to the driver side. When i intalled the PHB i put the adjustment point closer to the differential. does it matter what direction its installed on? Seems like it'll adjust the same way.

Will the diff being slightly shifter over affect alignment?

The lower control arm and lower control arm relocation brackets willd efinitely help with straight line traction and performance.

Honestly it doesn't matter which way the panhard rod is installed, generally I will install it with shorter end on the rear end side which makes the adjuster easier to get to.

I couldnt figure out how to install the relocation bracket for the control arms. It says theyre bolt on but i didnt install it. It looks like it has the bracket for the shock to bolt on to?
any help with that? The pics on the instructions didnt look very well, cant tell what angle its from.

Any one have better install pics?

Alot of people don't have the experience with the Tokicos and everyone on LS1tech thinks that if you don't have Koni shock then you are wasting your time so it is hard to get a fair judgement on them here. In my opinion and from my experience with them they are good budget shock that are affordable and work very well. We have sold quite a few set of these shocks and have yet to have anyone disappointed with their performance.

That bracket coming off the lower control arm relocation brackets uses the shock mount on the rear end to locate the relocation brackets. Once you get everything apart you will see how it goes. It is a pretty straight forward deal. Here is a link to the instructions from our website.

I've never bottomed out, and the streets in my area are pretty bad. I dont daily drive my car, but im pretty happy with the shocks.

The only issue i had with them like i said in my first post, was that the threads on the passenger side strut i used were flat. I had to take them to get filed back into shape and get a new lock nut.

I didnt contact BMR cause it wouldve taken too long to send the strut back and have them send me another one.

Car should be on the ground when adjusting any suspension part as the car drives. An alignment rack works the best

thanks, got it. Finally got it aligned, although it looks like its got a bit of "toe" (pitched in on the top) but it drives straight?
