Lucky bastard. We will see what is in store.. If I feel like a sneaky bastard I could always buy a 1986 Camaro and do a swap or something. ^^

Yeah Ontario is a bitch and for the past couple years you have to be careful now with roadside inspections. If you are missing any of the stock emissions equipment its big fines for one missing. Some people like to play with fire and dont care and do without and ive seen them burned BADLY! Im playing by the books and really the car the way it is on the street at my current power level is more then enough. The Police are cracking down huge on racing so really whats the point in building the baddest engine possible and not being able to open it up? With a 355 a 226/234 112lsa will pass and biggest ive seen from my friends car in a 383 was a 230/236 112lsa cam both LE grinds.

At least in the states, you can indeed replace the stock exhaust from the catalytic converter back with an aftermarket exhaust as long as the cat stays in place and as long as the exhaust has an executive order number.

Well you can swap out exhuasts up here too, as long as it doesnt interfere with the emissions out of the tailpipe. If it passes tailpipe emissions its good to go.

Street legal is whatever you can get away with in your locality so, you'd probably be best off asking in a local forum.

It will vary anywhere from working lights and horn all the way to needing an exemption order for every single part that isn't factory installed on the car. Hell, I once had a cop tell me the air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror wasn't street legal.

Well, im not planning to take out headlights, horn or anything stupid like that. Im trying to keep it a daily driver, all i need to pass is emissions and safety in order for it to be street legal, so aslong as everything works, and im not pissing out HC's i should be good.

It's not. It's considered an obstruction. Technically noting can hang from the mirror. Same thing goes for GPS devices that are attached to the middle of the windshield.

Do you have to go through a safety inspection? Same thing in the county I live in. My e-check is through mail, but I am required to get an inspection once a year.

Damn...crazy canucks and their roadside inspections; what is it, **** era Germany up there? I thought the California guys had it bad....around here cops have better things to do than hassle you about emissions crap, that's not their job...it's the mechanic who inspected it.

I doubt any real street legal car is much faster than the 12's... a true street legal car (by federal emissions standards) needs a catalytic converter.

As stated, it depends on who's considering it street legal. Street legal in today's world seems to be any pump fuel car. I'd consider the motor I'm building to be street legal; shoot for mid 11's on 93 octane pump fuel and high 9's on 93 octane/C16 race fuel with nitrous.

Are you kidding me? Im sure you can get much faster than 12's.. And who says you need to cut off a cat, the amount of restriction a 'good' cat has is little to none. A cat shouldnt effect backpressure or horsepower unless its plugged up.

in mn my camaro is street leagal. twin turbo lt1 with two mufflers coming out of the front bumper in front of the tires. no cats. fully gutted and i rewired all my lights in it to be street legal. i get pulled over enough and the cops says befor even getting out of the car put the keys on the roof and put your hands on the steering wheel lol then when they walk up they say wtf do you do with this thing. i usually tell them i drive it as a DD and all said and done with expidition driving ticket they let me go.. but in mn you can really drive anything and they wont care as long as you dont race on the street

Exactly my point. My car isn't street legal because of the air freshener but, Larry Larson's Nova is perfectly street legal. The only logical conclusion to this is that "street legal" is a total bunch of BS, similar to republican primaries.

It's subjective. My experience is if I am cool to a cop when pulled over I get a verbal/written warning or citation the same as if I were in my daily. I've learned from friends that if you're a complete dick with an "always question authority" attitude they are going to hammer you. Especially if caught doing something stupid.
