Decent inexpensive exhaust
my '93 is bone stock minus a CAI and suspension
Currently I have a Borla adjustable exhaust. I sold the tips and put turn-downs in their place. My neighbor offered me a nice chunk of cash for it and I also have an opportunity to trade it for a LM1 as well.
If I decide to sell it, I'm looking at three different replacement systems - all under $300 shipped
1) Jegs 3", 2.5" outlets
2) Flowmaster equivalent and
3) Flowmaster 3", single driver side 3" outlet
...havent heard any opinions/reviews of the Jeg's system but according to the tech at Flowmaster, the 3"in/dual 2.5" outlet system is louder but more restrictive than other similar systems. The single in/out 3" system is quieter and will produce an honest 10-15hp over the other Flowmaster system
I'll be installing some Mac mids and deleting the cat at the same time. What i'm looking for is a good sound with no interior resonance
Of the above systems, which would fit my needs best?
TIA

Neither Borla or Flowmaster for me. THey drone like crazy, sound horrible, and make **** for power. For your money I'd get the Texas Speed Rumbler. Great exhaust for the money. Hell if I had $1500 for a catback I'd still do the rumbler

I had some type of flowmaster, but my I pipe was 2.75 i think, non mandral bent over the axle comming from jet hots and hooker off road y pipe. I switched to a magnaflow setup and the car seems happier.
Its easy to see why a single in/single out would make more power, a single in dual out fbody mufler, the exhaust has to take some pretty wild turns to get out of the muffler and exit the tail pipes. obviously a single in single out is a nice straight shot!
Anyways my expereince with magnaflow is good so far, ive only drivin the car once in the last 4 weeks but it sounded good (Car has jet hot long tubes, hooker off road y pipe to 3" magnaflow).
The only other setup ive had that i loved was pacesetter long tubes, pace setter y pipe, to a loudmouth with a moroso spiral flow in place of the loudmouth resonator. It sounded very good, deep and smooth, no pops doing down hills in an m6 car. I actually drove the car 1100 miles straight in 1 day over an 18 hour period, the exhaust tone was the last of my worries at that point but It was very tolerable.
TSP rumbler is basically a loudmouth setup with a bullet, isnt it?
if you sell the borla, and you are running stock headers and catted y pipe, DEFFINETLY look into the loudmouth or TSP rumbler. anything else and it will be to loud, but you have alot of options to make a borla-mouth, dyno-mouth and whatever else - mouth you want to quiet it back down.

I have a TSP rumbler with custom tucked up turn downs I'm willing to sell for $150 + shipping. Only used for about 5-6 months, all you need to do is bring it to a shop to get it welded up. IMO sounds better than a LM1 and had no rasp with a high flow cat.

Sort of. It sounds almost opposite to a loudmouth though. My rumbler is quite loud, but it isn't raspy or high-pitched sounding like a loudmouth. It's a very, VERY deep rumbler, that doesn't drone if you get the tips out from underneath the car.

Ive ran a bunch of different exhaust combinations on my cars through the years. The flowmaster will drone like crazy especially if you are cammed. Right now Im running a Flowtech afterburner and it sounds a little cleaner than a flowmaster but sounds damn near identicle at WOT. IT also doesnt drone much at all. I cant believe how quiet it is in the car because it is very aggresive outside. I dont think they make a catback though. It supposed to flow a good bit better than flowmaster too. I think I only paid $60 for the muffler from Summit.

The Borla IMO sounds like *** with stock manifolds but once you get a set of Long Tubes on its just right nasty and sounds totally different. I love my Borla and probubly wont change it out unless i get bored down the road and cant find something else to mod. On the cheap side i would pick up a SLP Loudmouth and if on the expensive side it would be GMMG.
