I heard that strut tower brace adds 30 horsepower.

Take it to the track.

LT4 conversion lol

That intake has been off before, so maybe there's some headwork? Do you have any videos of your car running? Take it to a track of slap it on a dyno.

You never know. My car had dual springs, 1.6 rockers, and ported heads on it when I bought it. The rest was stock right down to the paper air filter. I didn't find out till my first cam swap a year later. I was beating cars I shouldn't have been beating too.

This is what it put down back when it was an automatic and I thought the only mod at the time was CAI.

Why would it be at all surprising he can beat a Mach 1 mustang? They are only rated at 305 hp I've taken out several 4 cam 4.6's over the years myself with just bolt ons in my 6spd Formula....motortrend rated the auto Mach 1's as running 13.88, 5sp as a 13.50 car. Those numbers are very close to stock LT1 times. The rest of the cars mentioned are turds. I don't see why a bolt on LT1 with a converter can't run high 12's....easily enough to beat the mustang, especially when you consider most stick shift drivers are not getting the BEST possible times consistently as the OP should be with a stall and built trans. Dyno it if you really want to find out.

That sounds like a stock cam. Have you looked at the valvetrain to see if it's updated? Until you test it you won't know what you have. Look at speed demons experience. Take it to the track for all us boys suffering with winter in the North!

Very true.

A real race car makes a street car look like a joke. Not only is it too damn expensive to race on the street its also dangerous. I'm not going to say I've never ran some one else on the street, but I didn't go looking for it either. The sad thing about my car is that it is not safe on the street and not legal on the track. I just got a 68 drag Camaro so I can keep it off the streets now.

Sounds like a stock cam. Maybe you have an upgraded valvetrain, or just a healthy LT1. See what she runs at the track.

Look down the oil cap and see if you have roller rockers. Also my car went 13.3@103.xx stock on a nitto so I can see you beating all those cars if yours is very healthy.

I'd like to dedicate this thread to the venerable LT1.

You scored. Dont race too many ricers they dont know how to lose......

Doesnt sound stock to me....could be zz4 cam it's a torquey cam w/lots of guts off the line.

The 1000 rpm idle can easily hide a few of the smaller cams.

You wont ever know what it has until you tear it down, but a dyno will tell what power its making (even those vary a lot).

Just the fact that the intake was off means it could have a lot of different mods - the motor is definitely clean, and it looks like the former owner took care of it. It could have head work, ported intake, and a baby cam with a tune. All of those together will give a nice bump in power while still sounding and driving like stock.

Pull an oil cap to check for rockers - not many people would cam a car and keep the stock stamped 1.5 rockers.

You may get lucky like speed_demon and have a few undocumented mods.

It sounds and looks good. If the head gaskets were changed, chances are the valves were done and maybe the heads were milled to correct warpage if overheating was the reason for the gasket change.
