Only half of the valve is missing, the top half and spring are still attached to the top of the head; I suspect that the root cause is a shattered piston.

The driver's side head and oil pan come off Monday - more pics to follow.

That must of sent chills up your spine when it let go. I'd say you goy your money's worth from that engine. Nice Job!

Default LT1 Carnage Part II - Wrath of Con(rod)

My #2 Con rod was ever so slightly bent (See PIC).

My builder suspects the "GMA 599" callout cast into the big end of the rod indicates it is / was a stock GM powdered metal rod (any thoughts???), but whoever made it - GM or the aftermarket - it sure took a beating and stayed together!

Also, found the 'head' of the exhaust valve in the oil pan, along with the remains of the #2 piston - it was in 1000+ pieces.

Just put that rod in a vice to straighten it and it will be as good as new!

That is very impressive it lasted that long. What turbo set up are you running? Cool pic's too. Those are items to keep in the shop and tell stories about.

yeaaa nbd just heat that rod up and bend er back just a minor wound haha

this is great though.......yet another example where the "brittle powered metal rod" bent and didn't shatter....... +1 for the good guys haha!! lol
