Default scratching my head!!

ok guys my 95 camaro is having starting issues and running rich. to start it i have to keep my foot to the floor and after some cranking itll finally start. i have no idea why that is. and second of all when it does start it runs rich and when u drive it its got no power. i have checked fuel pressure, checked vacuum, checked spark, made sure i had no broken wires anywhere. and there is no ses light. ive heard of the coolant temp sending unit but mine are new. is there a way to see if it is bad without buying one? does anyone know anything else i can try???

For starters you need to hook it up to a Scanmaster or some other OBD1 code scanner and see if it has posted and logged into memory, any codes. If I had to just up and blame something, I would say you have old, worn plug wires (OHM check them) followed by a worn opti cap or rotor assuming you have adequate fuel pressure.

Does it drop pressure when it primes?

If its extended crank when starting could be fuel pump check valve, thats if it drops pressure after priming.

Sounds like you've got a wire crossed or a loose boot.

I had same symptoms when I bought my 97. Along with poor gas mileage, and when it did start, the idle was choppy and it would almost die unless I revved it up a couple of times. Mine turned out to be bad coolant temp sensor. (One in the water pump) try unplugging it and starting your car normally. If it starts up, go to the parts store, a sensor is around $20

Check the pigtail to the coolant temp sensor. My problem like yours ended up being the pigtail, not the sensor.

Look to see if the wiring is broken or loose or the terminals are bent/corroded/whatever. Pretty easy.
