This is hard to explain...the female part on the door has a little lever latch thing that you can flip up with your finger. It is probably closed and is blocking it from latching onto the male **** sticking out of the body of the car. ....sounds kinda dirty, but. That's the best I got lol

I agree with the above poster. Take a screwdriver and open the latch up on the door. Then spray it down with some lubricator, I usually use WD-40, and work the latch open and closed multiple times.

There are some rods connected to it as well. Honestly though, I would try lubing it up before replacing it. Work 9 out of 10 times.

Is it in the closed position now? If so, just lift up on the door handle with one hand and push it to the open position with the other. If you can do that your door will close and latch. You just might have to do it everytime you open the door till you either replace it or lube it.

In order for the door to open, that latch had to be in the open position. Only way it got closed with the door open is you bumped into it either with part of your body or something you were carrying.

Make sure the door is unlocked, actuate the outside handle and push the latch open with a screwdriver or a pen or something. It pivots down to open so you will have the best leverage pushing from the top edge.

Ok I kinda do get it but do you have a picture or something, its cause when I looked at it I think the little latch was like not even in position like its around the 11 o clock position?

The latch needs to be facing straight out...towards the male end or it will hit it and not close

I doubt yours is actually bad...try to lube it up like others said with penetrating oil or wd40 and it should work fine. Did you get that little lever in the right position so it would close?
