Default 383 build!

I'm in the process of building a 383 ci LT1 out of my 95 Formula..
Disassembled the entire motor, ordered my SCAT 383 bottom end kit and it should be coming in soon. Then sending the block and bottom end to the machine shop to get bored out, cut the deck, and assemble & balance the bottom end.. Any thoughts on the power output she will have when im done? Points or tricks?
Thanks all!
Nick

Sink youre money into the upper end , build the shortblock to handle some power and to run around 11.5 or 12:1 comp.

My thoughts on power output are 275 crank hp, 285 if it is a dual cat car.

Seriously dude, how the hell can we know how much power it will make without ANY information about the car? Cam? Heads? Compression?...

yes, I have a SCAT 383 bottome end kit. Boring the cylinders .030 over and cutting the block deck. Not sure what im going to do as far as heads and a cam. Thinking about porting the stock heads and widining up the chambers, buying the trickflow heads from summitt, or looking into the LE2 heads. Also will the stock oil pan fit a 383 crank?

Get some professionally ported stockers, AI or LE will do the trick and get their cams to match.

Do some more research before you make some big mistakes. Sounds like all of your effort is being put into the bottom end which only supports the power made by the valvetrain- it DOES NOT MAKE THE POWER. As mentioned the heads/cam are far more important.

What kind of power are you looking to put out?

im looking for around 400 horse or higher with this set up. I would like some reccomendations for top end stuff. I would like to buy the 1.6 ratio roller rockers. But should I give the heads to the machine shop that already has my block so they can port and polish and make the head/block deck flush? And i havent decided on a cam yet. I would like a street/strip car that has somewhat or a bumpy idle and has higher end power band (4000rpms +) Any thoughts? thanks

Best thing to do is find a car that duplicates the results you want, then emulate how the owner got those numbers.

www.advancedinduction.com for the heads/cam combo. Proven results time and time again. You'd be at an easy 420+whp with a 383 and their ported stock castings.

Keep the heads away from your engine builder - most places don't know what it takes to PROPERLY port LT1 heads. Leave that part to the pros.

Im most likley going to go with the AI 200cc heads with their cam. Seems like a good combo for my bottom end.

I had plans to go through the whole motor the whole time guys lol I just want a solid bottom end for the power coming from the top end. I wasnt sure what i should do but now i think im on the right path.. Going with the 200cc heads from AE with the matching cam & doing 1.6 roller rockers and hardend valve springs with their valves. I also have SLP mid length headers for exhaust and ill most likley be using the stock intake with a ported throttle body for a bigger one. Gonna send my PCM out to PCMforless.com for the tune and then Ill need to get the drivetrain stronger to lay those horses on the ground. Getting a stronger clutch. Rear end is also a question. Ford 9 inch or a Moser 12 bolt???....

I'd get that factory intake ported as well, Whomever does the heads should do the intake, and imho Even though the 9" takes 5-8 more rwhp to run it has what so many advantage s over a 12bolt especially any gear ratio your heart desires and so much easier to do gear swaps on
