Default Strange knock/vibration

Last night i had a mustang race me light to light and when taking off from the light there was a banging vibration coming from right under my console, only happens when you take off hard from a stop, otherwise there is no vibration or noise, thinking i might have torn the trans mount but haven't gotten a chance to get the car up to look at it. How likely can you do that and if thats the case are they very hard to replace?

cars a 97 a4

I'm guessing trans mount too.

Check the torque arm as well. I had a vibration at the shifter on accel and decel and it was cracked/split at the axle mount when I bought my car. Only way I found it was when it finally gave way and was hitting the DS.

Replaced it and it was smooth as silk.

What about the Mustang that you raced? Did you beat him? And yes it sounds like the transmission mount.

Yes it's possibly your Trans mount. I had that happen 2 years ago with my 6-speed. Everytime I got on it, the shifter would shoot up like 3 inches haha. Definitely wasn't good!

Almost certainly trans mount; thumping, excessive movement in the shifter....been through 5 of them over the last 15 years (yes, I beat on it ). The last one I broke was even an Energy suspension poly mount with the interlocking metal internals...lol. Had some severe axle hop when I had to slam on the brakes in the rain due to an idiot that pulled in front of me and it busted. That said, the poly ones do last much longer (that one was over 5 yrs old when it broke) and make the shifts feel MUCH more positive. It's definitely worth the extra $10 for a poly mount.

Oh yea, and takes like 10 minutes to replace

Have u found the problem?

I have the same problem with my car changed the trans mount to a poly and it still vibrats and makes that knock noise. I put after market umi tunnell mount torque arm.I'm thinking drive line or shock. I checked the drive line it looks fine but I'm going to change the u joints anyways.
