Question Ls1 steering shaft better than a rag joint eliminator?

I already have a rag joint eliminator installed and was just wondering if switching to an ls1 steering shaft would make a difference at all or if it's just a waste since I already have the rag joint eliminator?

Well, here's the deal..... since you have it already it comes down to this, the rag- joint Eliminator is a bulky unit, its heavier with the 4 bolts and 8 nuts...
The Ls1 shaft is a cleaner less cluttered look and factory weight.... so at the point you are at its all your choice. Me personally would used the modded Ls1 shaft

Is the LS1 steering shaft a direct bolt-on?

i had it both ways. I had the rag joint eliminator first. When I went to the ls1 shaft it was that much better that I could feel it, so for $30, it's a good deal.

I swapped an LS1 rack and steering shaft in my car years ago and I didnt even notice that the LT shaft had a rag joint, and had zero issues fitting it all on my car and attaching it to the steering column. I just did it because I planned for an LS swap and you need an LS rack to have have clearance for the LS motor. Instead of going through the trouble of just eliminating the rag joint, its probably more beneficial to put on a whole LS rack too which opens you up if you ever choose to go LS.

Well after reading the thread linked this is what I came away with:

This is a good, easy, and cheap mod for most people.

For me, it means I'm taking the 50k mile LS1 rack and steering shaft down from my for sale thread and swapping BOTH into my car since I'll get a less worn rack and the better shaft without having to mod anything. I'm loosing profit from something I was going to sell, but still saving some money because I was about to have to buy outter tie rod ends for my LT1 rack.

Thanks again for the info.

I have an un-modded ls1 shaft for sale if anyone is interested? Ended up not needing it for my headers.
