Default lt1 build questions

hey guys as some of you know i blew my motor so now im looking into what to build..

i wanna stay lt so there is no swap going on but here is my thinking..forge the short block, then strengthen the valvetrain ie strong springs, pushrods ect... i have a ported intake and a 58mm tb so without any porting work to the heads would i still be able to make good power?(with the turbo)..

my thinking is that with a forged shortblock and strong valvetrain it can hold alot of boost, and my heads dont need to be the best because its going to be forced by the turbo... dont flame me for being ignorant im just wondering how much power a set up like this could make..

thanks guys

By not having the head work done you're going to choke the turbo.

Head and cammed LT1s will lay down over 400whp. Now add boost on top of it, you'll look at over 500whp at the wheels.

yea they do that all stock....(without the turbo part) now if i can add a mess of boost shouldnt i be able to get at least like 600? not denying it will choke the turbo tho

Why wouldn't you want head work? Intake flow doesn't have to be huge since the turbo will force air in but exhaust would need some work because you have to get all that exhaust gas out.

well the only reason i said that is cause i have those parts laying at my house... head work is soooo expensive and can double the cost for good heads.. so i was thinking run it like that till i can get some good heads.. instead of waiting another half year to save up

No body said it can't run without heads. It just won't run to full potential.

guys in the past have made big power with boost and stock heads....sure some AFR's would add quite a bit but you can still make 500-600rw with 10-14psi and cam.
