sounds like opti problems.. even with a new opti they can be junk right out of the box if you don't get a quality brand.
Only brands to trust are really...
OEM
Chandler
MSD
what's the other one.. dynaspark or something like that?
There may be a rare few others but that's about it. My MSD has been bulletproof on my car so far, locktited the rotor and been spinnin 7k ever since.

The ICM test at autozone doesn't always work because it doesn't stress or heat the module up enough. Had one test good on my 89 IROC, but I got them to warranty it out anyway and sure enough, it fixed it.

Big time i forgot to mention that... their test doesn't sufficiently heat it like it would be under normal driving conditions... you gotta have them run the test a bunch of times consecutively.

Shaking and power loss can be from at least one dead cylinder. If that's the case and since it's OBDII (unless converted) the check engine light should flash repeatedly meaning a multiple misfire code.
Easiest thing you can do to see if you can pinpoint the troubled cylinders is take one injector clip off at a time. Taking one off, if the engine misfires more, put it back on until you get to the cylinder where it makes no difference whether or not the clip is on the injector or off, then go from there by checking both fuel and spark.

Yeah with opti's anything can happen really... there have been some insane stories lmfao... basically just make sure you inspect it before installing, remove the cap and rotor, put RED loctite on the tiny tiny rotor screw and be careful not to overtighten it... reinstall the cap, I recommend some high temp RTV here to ensure no moisture or water can get in and you should be good to go.
On my opti install I fired the car for a few seconds with the opti on but everything else off still aside from sensors just to be sure it fired healthy and it did. Save's you a LOT of trouble if it ends up being dead or doesn't work for some reason and you took all the time to install it and put it all back together just to find its bad.

Yeah you can tell I'm a noob.. Chandler sponsors a few Camaro forums and sell a reliable, affordable opti. Many guys out there spinning to the moon with Chandler opti's. Lifetime warranty too.
I only built my entire car.. big noob here because you disagree about a Chanlder opti.

Yeah, I know. The only reason they even did the test on mine was to warranty it out. When you are losing spark after it heats up, and the pickup coil is new, there is really only one thing it can be.

Autozone is a joke, they set there machines up to read fail so you buy parts from there. I had the test a out of box alternator and it was reading the same voltage as my alt, so he went and got 3 more all tested the same. When the manager saw him he pulled him aside, im guessing to say wtf are you doing. I had this happen many times over the years and no longer even step foot in there.

Sorry I wasn't aware they stopped making them, my buddy's 383 Impala SS is still running 11's with the Chandler opti. All you had to do was say they stopped making them, but thanks for attacking me though
