damn, i messed up thinking you had an OBD2 car, whats the cost to get a reflash from PCMforless or similar? just take it back to stock, or slightly better optimization

So I think my first route is Im going to cut out my cat and install a high flow cat...I was thinking about doing a test pipe but I dont want to get too much smell and if I keep the car til next inspection, I dont want to deal with the hassle.....What do you guys reccomend for a good high flow cat. Seen a couple on ebay for like 40 bucks...Stupid question. Is the stock Y pipe going to be 2.5" for the LT-1?

I needed a new 1 and opted for the magnaflow one, and passed nj sniffer testing.

You might also have some metallic flakes coming out the rear of your exhaust if your cat has collapsed, or is clogged. This happened to me a few times, but my car was pretty much undriveable in each instance.

I've been fighting a similar problem with my mother's 95 Mark VIII, except with a random miss everywhere. First I suspected bad gasoline and I've worked my way down to some sort of sensor problem.
I yanked a few fuses to deal with anything PCM related and the car came back to life temporarily. The miss was gone, and the car even had more "vacuum." I say this because on cold start when the idle rpm is high, it really starts moving when my foot comes off the brake. Additionally the brakes are way more touchy now, there is a small threshold where the brakes are off, then on. This is the way it was before the problem. But a few days later it started hardcore studdering again, but was fixed with yanking the fuses again. Next time I'm going to yank one fuse at a time to see which system the miss is involved with.
My advice is to pull the PCM fuse and let it forget all its temporary data. I think 15 minutes is all you need, although I haven't dealt with an LT1 car in a long while. Although I don't know what sort of involvement the PCM has to do with your problem. The good news is that testing it is free and if it resolves your problem temporarily, it'll give you another clue to whats going on.

Mine just did this a few months ago. Its the cat. Gut the cat and then go have fun. If you live in a state that requires emissions bs then replace that ******. It definitely sounds like a cat for sure. Don't do like I did and change an optispark when you don't need to.
