Default Lt1/lt4 edelbrock intake fitment issue

We bought a new edelbrock part 7109 intake for my 94 z28 and it doesn't sit flushed , it hits the heads before sitting flush . Do I need the lt4 heads as well? Hope not I thought it would fit
Any info would help

If it is the LT4 intake then yes, you need the LT4 heads. The ports will not line up the same, and the LT4 manifold has extra material on it that wont work with the LT1 heads.

Well first you made a big mistake assuming the Edebrock stuff was worthwhile, then you made a bigger mistake by ordering just flat out the wrong part. Next time ASK questions before wasting money on junk parts much less buying the wrong parts.

The Egelbrock LT1 heads/cam/intake are a bad joke that make less flywheel HP than decent setups get from ported stock heads at the TIRE, it is just junk, even the magazines they advertise in have a hard time pretending the LT1 stuff is worthwhile.

The stock intake is a nice piece and will support all the HP you'd care to make.

Without looking up P/N's, Edelbrock makes two versions: a LT1 and a LT4

A 94Z has a LT1, so that is the one you need if you order an Edelbrock piece. Will you see a gain over the stock intake? I don't know, but whatever intake you get it must be compatible with a LT1

FYI... I think Edelbrock is the only mass production "aftermarket" intake.

NONE there is not a direct fit aftermarket intake that is an improvement.

Back in the 90s Edelbrock and Lingenfelter tried and failed to come up with direct fit improvements and admitted failure. Apparently it only took a decade for Edelbrock to lose enough integrity to market the POS they are selling which was prompted by GM discontinuing the LT4 intake.

Since you already made some bad assumptions let's nip another one right away, the GM LT4 intake is internally the same as the late SMALL port LT1 intakes, it just has more metal above the port to seal to the taller ports in the LT4 heads.
GIZMO posted this pic long ago to help straighten the assumptions about the LT4 intake being special out.

Early LT1 intakes were a more rectangular larger port, larger than the head ports even so with as cast heads the later intakes are actually slightly better due to a better match. Once you get into porting heads and intake though it does not matter.

It's a waste of time and money on a stock lt1.

Dwayne is right. There is NOTHING to be gained from the Edelbrock intake. Some tests have actually shown LOSSES.

The STOCK manifold is by far the best option. The old conventional wisdom of upgrading the intake manifold was prominent in SBC land, NOT LT1 land.

Sorry guys... for those that know, this douche rubs me the wrong way... I dont care if you lose 100hp from a certain brand... WHO IS HE, to thrash other people and their decisions.

I have the air gap on my set up... and Ill be damned if its not a quality piece....

Its one thing to say, "from what I have read, some other person does not feel these (insert item here) have any benefit...." but for him to say.,.. YOU DIDN'T ASK... YOU WASTED YOUR MONEY... FU *******!

If I'm not mistaken DMONEY has the sexy multicolored caprice thats frankensteined together...... BUT who am I to say its an ugly p.o.s, and that he wasted his money buying white wall tires for it because the rest looks like diarrhea after I eat tacos.

breathing......
