Default LT1 Flywheel Cracked Resurface or Replace??

Clutch and flywheel resurface have about 25k. Should I Replace the flywheel or try to get it resurfaced? Came from 95z in sig. Thanks

Take it to a machine shop and see how deep the crack is. Maybe it's shallow enough to just resurface it.

I did pretty much the exact same thing to my flywheel and the shop was able to resurface it. They can usually tell you right then and there when you bring it in if it's toast or can be saved.

A crack in the flywheel is rare, but can be expected if your running an agressive clutch....they are normally shallow and can be pulled out, depends on how long its been in there...if you're in doubt or feel its questionable, replace it....feet are nice, you walk on them

If you have your flywheel resurfaced do you have put shims behind it?

Nope, unless you have an LS1.

Some guys do make their own shims for LT1 flywheels in order to correct the geometry that's been slightly changed by the thinner flywheel, but it has never been proven to correct/improve clutch operation, so most people don't bother.

The stock hydraulics on an LT1 have a ton of adjustability, and when one resurfaces and makes the flywheel thinner, it actually positions the cupped end of the clutchfork even closer to the slave cylinder. This makes it even easier for the slave to adjust to the new clutch and flywheel setup.

This info is specific only to LT1 "pull" clutches, and doesn't really apply to any other car I can think of.
