I dont think there differnt, from what I have heard just a good idea to change while you change the driveshaft. Lighter so it spins faster, but if your putting down power the lt1 would be better option

Its a direct swap between the two shafts. LS1 ds is lighter and a little smoother at high speeds, but the steel LT1 is stronger.
Make sure you have the aluminum shaft under the car with you and ready when you pull the steel one out of the tranny, as some tranny fluid might spill out depending on how forward the car is tipped on the jack stands.
