Default Lets build a 383...

Well I've bought a 383 setup off craigs list.. previous owner lost interest in build and short block sat bagged in his shop for a couple years ...
I paid $1,000 for
Cast scat crank (not using) sold, replaced with new forged eagle*
forged 6"Eagle H-beam rods
forged flat top SRP .030 over pistons
4 bolt mains, cyl walls fucked, need rebore, sold, replaced**
Moroso oil pan
Cam motions cam: 247/254 @ .050, 572 intake, 576 exhaust 112lsa,(not useing,for sale)
i'd like to end up with 400+hp to the ground ...i have full suspension & tires

I plan on using LE Port & Polished stock heads with suitable springs,My 1.6 crane gold RR's and a suitable converter thru my 700r4 and stock 10bolt w/3.23's ... i realise that the trans and/or 10 bolt wont last but i'll cross that bridge as i get there .. I would rather put the motor in service and not have it sitting on a stand in my living room even if it means taking it easy on trans for now...

The interior is from Camaro King outta California ..i bought from him on ebay 899 for the kit ,i disassembled the entire interior and fixed foam and recovered with new skins.. The door hinges are from Vertical doors.com outta California 90% bolt on and vehicle specific.

Good deal ... just make sure someone goes over the motor and verifies that it's clean and ready to run.
I'd rather spend that money before putting it in the car VS finding out later that someone scammed you.

I wouldn't try to run a cam in that condition. I'd make the investment to get a cam suited for your specific combo anyway. Great deal you got though! That's not a steal, that's pure robbery! Also, that's one clean ride!

So there is not a thick line that runs from one end to the other? Does it have any markings on the front counterweight?

Looks more like a casting than a forging to me.That is why I asked if you could show pics of the parting line. You could PM callies for more info,I could be wrong but it just looks like a casting.Anyone else with me on this?

Be careful with that thing. You know what the outcome could be with that being an unknown cast crank? Not sayin you did not get a good deal, Just know that is has limitations
