Yes the rotating assembly is pretty much gen 1 SBC but the block is not the same casting and is not the same casting as aftermarket SBC block either.
The guys that argue straight is better in this block sight the fact GM knew they were installing 4-bolts on the Vette and designed the web for straight.
Like I said though in the real world I don't think there is a tangible difference as other things will be a problem first so long as the caps of either design are quality and installed/machined for correctly.
If you want to bring in other blocks as arguments why when they redesigned the smallblock did the LS get 4 straight and 2 lateral? If splayed were the ultimate then they could have designed it with splayed. Hell they went 6-bolt even with a structural oilpan.

Sprayed is stronger.

on our 3500 series engine the main cap bolt are all 4 bolts splayed as are the 4 rod cap bolts. the only thing better than splayed is a cross bolt configuration.

Well im definitely going for a small first build but eventually ill have to call Nelson Racing Engines. There building 2300hp SBC & 2700hp 632 Race gas warrior. Thats insane and supposedly daily drivable. Any one ever does business with Tom Nelson?

At 30 lbs of boost it made 1240rwhp through a glide and a 9 inch on slicks.

I read a few months back of someone building an AWD 12 camaro...so it could be doable, but as much as I like the LT1 one also I dont think the block like Puck said will take it. Best bet is to build LSx and look into how to do an AWD 4th gen now that would be cool as hell.

Rick's Formula had a good top end but the bottom end wasn't any thing crazy, pretty street carish. Not much differen't then whats in your average LT1 blower car. That car used to be a big motor, doped street car, then he tried a nitrous race car and then lastly the turbo set up. That bottom end had a Cola crank, Eagle H beams and some J.e's. Erik K was doing the engine work on that car and is rebuilding my 398, we talk about Rick's old car a lot when I am at his shop since we both knew him. That car had 7s in it, but there were external circumstances that had nothing to do with the car that caused him to give up on it. He wanted a 7 pretty bad, but that car wasn't cheap to run. He had a lot more fun in it when it was a 10 second stroker/nitrous six speed car. When Erik and I talk, a few changes and that car would have been right. Never know now, he had it and was in the race to break 7s with the LS1 crowd. Just got out spent which was always the issue.
I saw it a few years ago, roller now

I think this was the post your talking about. And IMO it would take guts & $$ to make a mid-engined AWD 4th gen Camaro. I doubt itll be done but lets hope im wrong.

No that isnt it either....it was a 2012 that it was done to. Seen in it in one of the LSx articles I think or someplace like that. And it was finished and running.

and BTW in your sig it says converting to rear mount turbo. You wont make any power with rear mount turbos. IMO its a waste of time and money. Just do a Turbo setup thats closer to the exhaust manifolds. Correct me if im wrong! Take a look at Nelsons Racing Engines. The perfect art of what a turbo setup is!
