They no longer make replacement LT1 lifters, if you went straight to gm they would give you LS7 lifters. You can buy them individually from many of this sites sponsors

If by chance you still have the stock LT1 lifter and the LS7 lifters available, can you take a pic of them laying next to each other with the side "oil holes" in view?

Would like to compare that hole location for each. I seem to remember the LS lifters having the holes higher up in the body and at one time we were questioning if this was a cause for decreased oil flow to the rockers at low RPMs (idle).

Original Delphi lifters from the L98 / LT1 days. Apparently he bought a bunch in bulk as the newer LSx lifters were being produced. These are what I got. I brought one into work (Chevy dealer parts dept) and pulled an new OEM off the shelf. I see no difference. other than like OP said. The cup looks a little different but not sure about depth. I think it's just an optical illusion from a slight design change in the cup.

Dont know if anyone cares but... just checked the part number for the LS7 lifters (17122490) mentioned in post #17 (page 1) on the GMpartsdirect site and they are selling sets of 8 for $30.36! You sure thats the LS7 lifter part number?

- edit - I just googled "ls7 part number" and got - 12499225. check this number on GMpartsdirect and costs $114 for 16 and does mention it for the LS7. are there different versions of LS7 lifters or was that first number just a typo??

- edit 2 - okay.. I'm a dummy... simple searching seems to show that the 17122490 are the OEM LS2 lifters... or at least the older version of the new and improved LS7's? whatever the case,... I gather the 12499225 is the LS7 lifter that is the one we are talking about. So, my question would now be... being that the 17122490 is available for half the price, are they that horrible or what? I mean, if someone is on a budget and not shooting for the stars with RPM numbers or power, $60 instead of $120 is nice, right?

Don't know who the ebay seller is but I got mine through Skip White. They are original Delphi lifters.

As for the LS7 lifters..... Well, I have a quite a few pictures of those with the same problems as lt1slowz28.
Even one from a ZR1 w/ 19k miles on it.

The most I can tell you is that if I pull up the part number for a lifter for an LT1, it automatically changes to the new p/n for the new lifters (LS7). I work in a GM parts dept.
