hey guys like the title says, im looking to change my exhaust set up. Currently im just running stock manifolds through my cat to a borla catback. The car sounds good but for me its not loud enough.
My new idea im thinking is getting some pacesetter longtubes and then doing some kind of dumped exhaust. The car is going to be put on an emission exempt type insurance so i dont have to worry about emissions anymore. If you guys can give me some info on what are some good set ups for what im looking for id appreciate it. Vids would be awesome as well. thanks

Every person I've ever known and read about who'd done dumped exhaust on a street car did not like it after a short time because of the drone and because of the unwanted attention it will draw. I'd still do LT's with an offroad Y-pipe, but weld in a cutout with an electric butterfly valve. It may not be the bee's knees as far as sound goes, but it will be loud when you want it to. JMO.

yeah i dont see myself having a problem with the drone of the exhaust. Everyone says my borla is annoying while driving down the road and i dont even notice it. I think ill be fine with the dumped exhaust i just dont know what all i have to buy to set it up. In the end if i do not end up liking it ill still have my borla catback sitting in the garage.

I have long tubes running into Corsa in my T/A and I absolutely love it. My z28 just has muffler delete and I love it also. It does have stock headers and cats so that's probably why. I would just get on YouTube and listen, they have every kind in the world.

yeah ive searched youtube and havent had much luck, i dont know if im just not choosing the right words for my search or what. I keep finding cam cars and i know those will be louder than a stock motor car. Im basically just looking for what i need to buy when doing the dumped type exhaust. I look forward to seeing those pics and getting the info on what you bought. thanks.

Why not just put on some longtubes and keep the Borla long enough to see how you like that setup?

Start simple - the big single cats can get you $110 from several members here that buy cats. Buy a 'allflow' cat from silicone intakes dot com, and stick the $75 difference in your pocket. If you dont like the sound then, spend the money for headers, etc before you dump the Borla

long tubes and removing the cat is going to make the car a bit louder... I am running pacesetters with an off road y pipe and magnaflow muffler and I get comments all the time... My car looks like a turd but it sounds like the ****!

I'm not a fan of dumped exhaust because of the noise inside the car and also the fumes. I had the exhaust dump right under the floor and every time i hit a red light the fumes would accumulate in/around the car and it would be very annoying. Also having the exhaust gasses staying under the car has been know to speed up rust formation.
