Default MAX Horsepwer from an LS1?

I was wondering as far as LS1/LS6 engines go and if someone had an unlimtited budget what is the maximum horsepower you could get out of one? Could you realistically get 1000 or more?

Horsepower isn't the question, it's times. The fastest LS1 in the world is a Procharger car running 8.5s...

we have 1000 hp ls1s on this site.

i doubt there's a doorslammer lt1 in the 7s, the supercharged 8.5 car is a convertible bird. there's also a n20 car that ran 8.5 last year.

So Low 9's or 8's is possible? what would you have to do to a brand new crate engine to get that?

The first LS1 in the 8s was an N20 car, that was ARE's own N20 car. 1BadLS1 Motor Sports has a Wheel to Wheel (same guys that build show and race cars for GM) built 8.5@164mph TA convertible, cost to the tune of $220K to build! Right now the fastest LT1 is Sikora's blower 96 Z28, that went 8.96 in the 150s. When you get to cars like that horse power doesnt matter, they are all in the 1k+ range.

There's also a 97 30th SS vert in low low 9s... 9.0-9.1s i believe.

On an LS1? Cubes, and a power adder, preferably nitrous or a supercharger. And one hell of an engine build. Lots of suspension goodies also, to help you cut those 1.2-1.3 sixties.

That convertibles Baxters car and I havent really heard to much about it in the last few years. I know it went in to the wall at English town. That guy Vince on CZ28.com is looking to hit 8.70s, right now hes doing 9.00@160, they said in Tanners post he changed trannies and the car should go 8.70s. Thats a 383 on gas.

I dunno if that's what you were sayin or not, but that troll wasn't Duke, check out this month's GMHTP if you wanna see some eye candy and some amazing stuff like a 5000 RPM stall, gun drilled 40-spline 9" rear, and air-to-water intercooler tubes running right through the cockpit of the car

Duke's car is simply awesome. 8.52@163mph with a full interior convertible- 3700 lbs.
